Minutes of Public Regular Meeting –

Tuesday, January 12, 2016

Newtown, CT

There was a regular meeting of the Cable Advisory Council called to order at 7:04 p.m., Tuesday, January 12, 2016, by Chairman Gregory Davis at the Charter Communications facility, Newtown, Connecticut.

ATTENDEES: Chairman Gregory Davis (Roxbury), Gerry Belanger (Newtown), Jon Bernon (Woodbury), George Fletcher (New Milford), Jim Lang (Trumbull), Mike Muttitt, (Monroe), Stephanie O’Rourke (Kent)

Guest: Jeff Church, Southbury

From Charter: Tom Cohan (Director of Regional Government Affairs), Greg Van Antwerp (Public Access), and Heidi Vandenbrouck (Public Relations)

ROLL CALL: Members of the council introduced themselves.

PUBLIC INPUT- Heritage Village Technical Director Jeff Church spoke of cable service in Heritage Village and noted that basic service is not offered. There was a discussion of whether or not Heritage Village customers are paying a subscriber fee. There was a brief discussion of education access channel for Heritage Village. Mr. Church also noted that Heritage Village customers are paying full rate for the internet but only getting half the speed. Tom Cohan from Charter Communications asked Mr. Church to send him an email with requests and intentions for Heritage Village.

November minutes

Since there were no corrections to the November minutes they were approved.

Reports from the delegates

(Roxbury)- Gregory Davis noted that he updated the website. The Annual report for CAC has been not yet been submitted.

(New Milford)- George Fletcher noted that New Milford has a new mayor

(Trumbull)- Jim Lang noted that Trumbull is looking to get more residents to serve on the Cable Advisory Council.

(Kent) – Stephanie O’Rourke spoke of billing issues with Kent Center.


SVAC Report- Gregory Davis noted that the chairman for SVAC was reelected for another two year term.


Community Access Channels in High Definition

Gregory Davis noted that a letter was sent to Tom Cohan asking when Community Access channels will be available in high definition. A response from Mr. Cohan noted that there are no plans to offer this at this time.


Stephanie O’Rourke asked about possible ways to increase recognition for what Charter gives to schools and facilities. It was decided to conduct an email regarding this.


Gregory Davis made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:06pm. Seconded.
