ISSUES OF Statewide Significance to Community Access Providers and their Advisory Councils

PEGPETIA PROGRAM REPORT AND FUNDING RECOVERY INITIATIVE

An August 2012 Advisory Council communication with the Region 12 Board of Education district Superintendent motivated them to apply for a PEGPETIA Grant (Public, Educational, and Governmental Programing and Educational Technology Investment Account). A final PUFA decision was rendered 17 April 2013 for Docket # 12-11-03, which stated:

The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority awards the Region 12 School District a PEGPETIA grant in the amount of $127,270….

BUT, In light of Public Act 13-184, An Act Concerning Expenditures and Revenue for the Biennium Ending June 30, 2015, all funds to be collected under the PEGPETIA Grant Program will be entirely diverted into the general fund for fiscal years 2014 and 2015, and will not be used for their intended purpose as specified in the law which created the PEGPETIA.

9 Nov 2013 email Letter from Region 4: Greetings Gregory G. Davis

Thank you for your response to our request for supporting participation in our effort to restore PEGPETIA funding.

We have already sent copies of our 'Council' letter to both Houses of the General Assembly leadership (Majority Leader, Minority Leader, Assistant and Deputy Leaders, President Pro Tempore, etc of both parties) plus Committee Chairpersons of: Appropriations; Finance, Revenue and Bonding, Education, Energy & Technology;and Legislative Management. In all a total of approximately 165 letters have been sent.

We are also asking each of our council's advisors to send personal letters to at least their State Senator and Representative in hopes of eventually contacting every member of the General Assembly.

Per your request I am attaching a digital copy of our Council's letter. Our personal letters are using very much the same language. Please feel free to use the language to suit your needs.

Sincerely,

Michael P. Maturo

Chairman Cable Advisory Council of South Central Connecticut (CACSCC)
